The final day of childcare the parents were invited to attend the summer end Talent Show! I really had no idea what to expect. Dylan rarely showed or told us what he was doing until the morning of the show then he did a little break dance in the living room. Well I arrived and much to my surprise this was a very official Talent Show at that! The older kids were serving hot popcorn, homemade chocolate chip cookies and lemonade! The gym was decorated with lights and a balloon lined stage, it was SO cute! It almost brought tears to my eyes....seems so silly but every single event that we have at his school is just so perfect and makes us more and more happy that Dylan attends All Saints. This was over the top especially for a child care summer end performance, I was so excited for the show!
The preschoolers came out first and sang, '12 things I learned at summer care'. It was hilarious, they were decked out in their fab star shades and sang and did their little dance moves, too cute and SO much fun to watch!
Last Monday we sadly said good bye to our sitter Michelle. Michelle has cared for Dylan since he was a tiny baby on oxygen. She more than welcomed our family into her home with open arms, she was a mother figure to Dylan, she was fantastic! Every morning Michelle made going to work so easy for me. It was big hugs in the morning and hugs at night, it was caring and snuggling him on those tired days and super fun play time in her toy room and park like back yard. It was a kids dream and we are SO fortunate we found someone like her to watch our little man. It takes someone special to take on a child for daycare, let alone a tiny baby that came with oxygen tubing that went all over her house. She did not hesitate, she did not show worry, our home health care company would deliver her oxygen as needed and she was more than willing to have Dylan regardless of what he needed. We cannot express in words how thankful we are of what she has taught Dylan over the past 4 years and the love she has shown him and the fantastic care she has shown. It was very hard for me to accept him going to school full time now knowing he will no longer have any fun filled days with his daycare Mom! Thankfully we LOVE his school just as much, but this step was a bit of a change for this Mama!
Thank you Michelle for taking such great care of our children!
Wednesday Dylan got to go to his 'Yellow' Room to drop off his supplies and meet his teachers and classmates! He is very lucky that he already knew his teachers. Mrs. Kray was a teacher of his last year and Mrs. Miller is the pre-school director and she often sat in on his pre-school room. They are two of the most fantastic teachers ever! Mrs. Miller's daughter is actually Danielle's Speech Therapist at Witwer so there is also a 'small world' connection there also! We can't wait to see the exciting things that Dylan will experience this school year. They have so many fun things planned. He seems to be very excited for sharing days as he loved those days last year. This year they are a bit different, each student gets to bring home the stuffed bear and small suitcase for a week. The students will name him/her and the bear will attend family activities for the week. The student then brings a sharing item at the end of the week in the small suitcase. Dylan is pumped up for his turn to bring the bear home! They also have cooking sessions each week, first is home made mac n cheese from Italy and then Johnny Appleseed homemade apple sauce! Just a few tid bits of what Dylan gets' to look forward to in the month of September! Brad and I both think that Dylan going to school 5 days per week is going to be so good for him. We are excited for what this school year has in store!
Today was his first day and I got the 'traditional' pics this morning. As you can tell by the smile on his face, he was more than excited to head off to school!
Dylan was exhausted from the moment he got in the car. He told me all about his 'Yellow Room' and all of the fun they had today. They sang songs, said a prayer, made a couple of pictures and played outside. Plus the snack was Scooby Bones, Gold Fish crackers and Apple Juice....can't leave out the snack of course! It is music to our ears hearing about our child's day thru his own eyes. We love every minute and each day brings more joy than the previous! Back to School is a fantastic thing....especially when you are 4!
