Last weekend the kids had their first trip to
Pennsylvania! It was such a wonderful long weekend spent with the great company of wonderful family! This beautiful view from Grammy & Tom's backyard is absolutely breathtaking!
We flew out of Moline and it was the kids second full trip on an airplane. This time it was a bit more challenging as we did not have a direct flight. Dylan was a pretty good boy. He had a few fits but for the most part he loved watching Micky Mouse on mommy's ipod touch, thank goodness for that! So we arrived in Philly at 11pm, it sure was a late night. Grammy & Tom were there to pick us all up and after lots of late night traffic we arrived at their house at 2am. The kids were out and we all climbed into our beds to get rested for the next day!
Saturday we decided that we would surprise Great Grandpa Phillips & Barbara, they had NO idea we were coming and to see them, and that was the main reason for our trip. Dylan also had lots of play time during the days we were there. Aunt Britni and Hannah gave Dylan lots and lots of attention and they had a really fun time playing with him. He of course loved the girls and now calls aunt Britni 'bam'. No idea where he got that from but that is her name according to Dylan! The girls of course put Dylan in Gramme's high heels and had him carry a purse with his toy cars in it. Daddy wasn't too fond of this and insists that mommy deletes the pictures, but they are SO funny, we will pull those out at his wedding or something like that! We had a great afternoon at the huge park and even did lots of bubbles at Grammys house.
Then we went and surprised Great Grandpa & Barbara with our visit. They were sitting right outside in the sun porch when we pulled up. It was priceless, I waved and could read Barbara's lips, 'is that Amber'?!
It was great! Then when the kids got out they were smiling from ear to ear! This was their first time seeing the kids in person and Dylan took to them right away. His very favorite toy at Great Grandpa's house was a bucket filled with clothes pins....yep, of all the other toys, this was his favorite! We had a great afternoon with them and they loved getting to know the kids and could not believe how good they were. Dylan was a very very good boy, he was polite and picked up all of his toys, after the long night they had the night before he was in an awesome mood, we were really happy.
Saturday night mommy's cousins RaeAnn & Carrie came over to Grammys house and Carrie brought her 2 girls, Sayla who is 6 months older than Dylan, and Nola who is just 4 1/2 months old. Savich, her little boy was camping with his Grandparents so we didn't get to see him. But Sayla & Dylan hit it off. It was hilarious watching him follow her around, she would take a drink from her cup and then Dylan would follow and take a drink of his. They loved to play on the stairs & run around. It was SO cute to watch Dylan play with his cousin for the first time, and a cousin that it his age too was the best! It was great to see them. Mommy spent many summer's at their house when I was younger and seeing our kids get together now is wonderful.
Sunday Dylan got to visit Grammys church. He had such a great time. He loved the music and the flags. Every time that the song ended and the music stopped playing Dylan would say 'WOW' and clap. Adorable! He loved it! There are many many people from Grammys church who have prayed for our kids both during the scariest moments and the happiest moments of their lives. At the end of the service Grammy took Dylan up on the alter and the Pastor played Dylan's Dedication video on the projection screen for the congregation to watch. Then they got to see the final product at the end, 'Dylan himself'. There was not a dry eye in the church and they all gave Dylan a great BIG round of applause. When Dylan saw everyone clapping for him Grammy picked him up and he got a huge smile on his face, as this applause was for him! What a very memorable experience and Grammy was very proud to show him off to her nearest and dearest friends and congregation who prayed so hard for him for the past 2 1/2 years. Those prayers continue...
We then spent the afternoon with Great Grandpa, it was again a beautiful afternoon & great to catch-up with them and have them enjoy the company of the kids. That evening Dylan's step-auntie Ciara came over to see him & Danielle. Tom made his famous Italian chicken, it was wonderful as always. Ciara had dinner with us and then it was outside for some fresh air and outdoor fun! Dylan got in on a game of soccer with his auntie's Ciara & Britni. Britni pushed while Dylan rode the scooter & Dylan even got to take a seat on Grandpa Tom's motorcycle, he sure loved that! Dylan had a very busy weekend and not a nap either day, boy, he was sure a trooper!!! Then it was time for some bubbles, so after the bubble fun Dylan got to try out the new Popsicle holder and have an orange Popsicle, he LOVED it! You can tell though how tired he was, he could hardly keep his eyes open while he was trying to eat it!
Monday we relaxed in the morning then went over and had a fabulous picnic lunch with Great Grandpa and Barbara. It was wonderful, Barbara is such Ms. Susie Homemaker it was fabulous! She had everything all set up on the screened porch so we could enjoy the beautiful weather. Everything was homemade and all the veggies were fresh & even homemade iced tea & lemonade. Thank you Barbie for a wonderful afternoon & lunch! Dylan enjoyed it and even took a huge bite out of his first dill pickle, and loved it, that was the funniest part! He of course had some more fun playing with his bucket of all the toys. It was such a nice afternoon and saying good-bye to them was very hard. We know our next visit is in the near future but it was very emotional because the whole trip was a total surprise for them. Dylan gave them lots of kisses and high fives & even a couple fist daps....too cute!
The whole trip was a huge success. There is nothing better than having a whole weekend spent with the kids & great family that you don't often get to see. Having them see our kids was the best part. They too were so amazed as pictures do no justice when you see them in person & get to see their little personalities. Dylan has not stopped asking for' Bam, Grammy & Thomas' since we got home. We could tell the trip was very memorable for him also. It was a long plane ride home but we all made it, safe and sound and definitely made some great memories.
Thank you lord for blessing us with such wonderful family. Although miles and miles separate some of us we are always close & loving each other in spirit. Thank you for keeping our family & children safe, we are truly blessed.~
