Lights galore....

This weekend with Dylan has been lots of fun as our Christmas celebrations have begun.....

Saturday night we decided we would continue a tradition that Brad and I started when we were first dating. Brad would take me out and show me all of the beautiful Christmas lights all around town. We have went out in search of our favorite Christmas display almost every year for the past 13 years that we have been together.....this year it was time to take the kids! Dylan just absolutly LOVES Christmas lights. Every night he says, 'oh Christmas lights soooo beautiful.' He loves looking at them out the window on our street and we find him staring at our Christmas tree lights for minutes at a time. So Saturday night we bundled the kids in their snuggly warm pj's and Dylan in his Santa hat and we were off! We turned on the Christmas music in the car and sang along with the songs we knew. I even spotted daddy tapping the beat on his leg, getting into the Christmas groove! Everytime Dylan heard the jingle bells on the radio, he said, 'I hear Santa's bell's'! It was very cute. I made a map with 6 destinations in search of our favorite display. We stopped and mom and dad grabbed some Cappucino and Dylan some cookies a little snack in the car for our 1st family Christmas light display search!
On the way to our first destination we stopped in Bowman Ridge. The whole neighborhood has a candy cane theme, all of the tree's have their trunks decorated with white and red lights, the tops are decorated too, just like the perfect candy cane. It is wonderful to see a whole neighborhood taking part in the Christmas decor theme.

We started out in one of Brad and I's favorite spots, Vinton. I remember going to see this display when I was a little girl. My Grandmother would take me there almost every year to see the beautiful display. It is amazing, complete with music....check it out (see above, blogger is cooperating today :0)

Dylan loved looking out the window and seeing some of his favorite characters all lit up for Christmas. We cracked the window so we could hear the music. Every time Brad or I would say something we were 'shusssshed' from the back seat, Dylan wanted us to be quiet so he could hear the music! We drove to 4 of the desninations on our map when we noticed it got a little quiet in the back seat. Dylan had grabbed his blankie and his Elmo book and he was asleep, sound asleep. It was at that moment that Brad and I glanced at each other, both of us had big smiles on our faces, what a fun night we had, showing our kids the beautiful colors of Christmas. We decided to head for home. We can't wait to continue our tradition again next year, with the kids in tow. Beautiful Christmast lights bring us right back to the days when we were so young and falling in love. It is fun to now see the beautiful family that our love for each other has given us!~
