Super Fast....

The beginning of 2010 is just flying by super FAST.... We have been busy trying to keep these kids from having cabin fever, staying in doing lots of activities and just trying to keep everyone healthy!

As hard as we tried to stay healthy and keep the germs away, shortly after the new year began Dylan came down with Bronchitis. A week and a half of breathing treatments and a few trips to the doctor and he came around. Dr. Collins said it may have been a false 'negative' RSV test, he may have had RSV but we will never really know.
The end of the football season was a little bittersweet....we loved watching the Hawkeyes play awesome and get a much needed victory in the Orange Bowl. We also love to watch the Super Bowl and see who the best team of the year will be, but football is thoroughly enjoyed in our family. Curling up on the couch on Saturday and Sunday afternoons cheering on our favorite team(s) is somewhat of a weekend tradition. We gathered for the Super Bowl, ate lots of yummy munchies and cheered on the New Orleans Saints to a fabulous Victory! Both kids showed their 'football' spirit, although our favorite team the Chicago Bears wasn't that good this year, we still love other teams, the Saints being one of them and we were very happy they took home the Super Bowl win back to their city of New Orleans, no team deserved it more!

The week after the Super Bowl Danielle was in the hospital with RSV. It was really rough on big brother Dylan. We had no idea that Danielle had RSV and Pneumonia, she had no 'typical' signs of either. So we were very surprised, but because of the vomiting she became dehydrated very fast. For this she ended up in the hospital over night. Mommy stayed at the hospital but came home for a little one on one time with Dylan while Daddy spent some time with Danielle at St. Lukes. Dylan was asking for the baby like crazy, saying that she was getting better but he wondered why he didn't get to see his peanut. When she was discharged and we came home and met him and Brad, he was delighted. He came over and gave her a big kiss on the leg and said his peanut was all better. He is the best BIG brother ever, and she love him SO much!

We got Danielle thru recovery. We visited some family and friends in Fairfax one weekend after the Super Bowl. It was a great time. Fun games, munchies, the kids had a great time, got lots of attention....what more could we ask for! It was a great time to get out of the house, as the snow had been burying us in lately!
Last Sunday Dylan started to act like he may not be feeling too well. But he slept great all night long so we sent him to daycare on Monday. That afternoon I got a call at work, after his nap he woke with a temp of 102.7. So I headed to pick both kids up. That night his fever climbed even higher as soon as the Tylenol would wear off. The next day I made an appointment with his doc. We arrived at the doctors office and his fever was up to 105, talk about SCARY. I was very worried about my little buddy. He was not showing any other signs of sickness. His breathing was fine, would get rapid when his fever was high but then would be regular when his temp would come back down. They tested him for Influenza A&B, Strep, Pneumonia etc, his CBC was elevated a bit. We were sent him with a diagnosis of Viral Tonsillitis. The next two days daddy stayed home with Dylan as his fever was anywhere from 101-104. Thursday found us back at the doctor's office. His fever that morning was high but then started down, by our appointment time it never came back. They tested him for Mono, it was negative. Again they said just a Virus but to watch him very closely as we unfortunately know how quickly things can change with him. Since then his fever has thankfully gone away. Now he has a slight cough and runny nose. That is much more tolerable. We are keeping on top of it, with breathing treatments and thankfully he is doing better. Needless to say our family is ready for Spring.....to come knocking at our door!

Today we celebrate Valentines Day with our little man. Dylan awoke to see that mom and dad had got him and Danielle some goodies and goodie bags. He was very eager to open them and see what was inside. Danielle patiently waited and he tore everything apart to find an Iowa Hawkeye shirt, an Owl Apron and a couple books. He was SO excited. Today is a day to show our unending love for the special ones in our life, especially our children. We relaxed this morning before heading out for a delicious lunch at Granite City. Dylan loved his Idaho fries, Chicken strips and eating both of the sliced tomatoes off of mom and dad's sandwiches! He is getting a lot better about eating....when he is in the mood that is. This afternoon after nap time mommy and Dylan baked our first cake! I found a heart mold and this adorable apron and figured this would be a fun time for Dylan to help in the kitchen. We are trying to get him hands on with things that are age appropriate, he did great! And the end result was a very yummy heart swirl chocolate frosted heart cake!
We have realized in the years since parenthood begun for us how time just goes by SUPER fast! We are enjoying every second, every minute with our little ones. We enjoy watching them learn on their own and also as we teach them new things. Dylan is a smart little cookie, not a thing gets by him un-noticed. We are patiently waiting for the cold weather to get a little warmer so we can venture out in the snow for some play time. Dylan has just been begging to build a snow man, the time will come...we have promised!
Happy Valentines Day little buddy, we love you SO much and are very happy to have you as one of our Valentines!

On another note....we have started a family blog to share our 'family' experiences and day to day crazy life. Take a peek....we still still update the kids blogs but the family blog will be updated more frequently as we have many memorable family experiences together!~
