Friends Forever....

This weekend we ventured up to Madison, Wisconsin and met our friends the LeConte Family! We have had such a wonderful connection with them since we met almost 3 years ago. We met in the UIHC NICU, our Miracle baby Dylan was neighbors in both Bay 1 and Bay 2 with their little Miracle little boy Drew. These boys spent 3 months next to each other in the NICU and we talked to Tony and Emily on many different occasions. We have become very good friends and both of our family's can relate to what each other have been thru. It brings tears to Brad and I's eyes to look at the pics of these two little Miracle little boys and to think what they have been thru in the almost 3 years of their life. We have stayed in touch, many times during each and every week we chat, and this weekend we met in Madison and had a super fun time letting these miracle little boys get caught up!Drew's mommy and Dylan's mommy also have one other very important connection! They were both on bed rest at the same time with their little miracle little girls that were born just 1 month apart! Yes, Danielle and Allison are just 1 month and a few days apart. We had so many wonderful things to celebrate this weekend. Little miracle little boys and little miracle little girls and 2 sets of parents who have fought long and HARD for these kids to be with us today!

We met Friday, late afternoon, in Madison and stayed at a very nice hotel with a great kids water play area / pool! We enjoyed pizza by the pool and let the kids be kids! Madison was a perfect 'meet in the middle' place, 2 hours North for us and 2 hours South for them, as they now live in Wisconsin. The kids were excellent, especially considering it was past bed time and supper time. But once they got to swim and got their belly's full, they were all geared up for hours more of fun! The parents chased the kids around, swam with them and had a chance to get caught up themselves!
Night #1 at the pool....HUGE success!

These little ones were like ping pong balls, everywhere!!! It was so much fun just watching them be kids. 2 perfect little boys who have been thru so much and have no idea, they are just so excited to live each day. They are vibrant, full of energy, at times little pistols, just everything little boys are made of....and WOW they are 2 of a kind!!

Saturday morning we had a great breakfast and ventured to the Madison Zoo. The weather could not have been any more perfect. Sunny, warm and a little breeze from the Lake, it was great! We took the kids to see all of the animals. Lions, Tigers and Bears...OH MY! It was so much fun, and they had some really neat animals. This area of Madison offers a lot for young kids and the zoo is run off donations only, they must have some great local support because this zoo was excellent!

This little baby Giraffe was SO cute! It was just relaxing, laying down, then it finally got up, made it's way over to the fence where the people were and just chewed on the fence. We had never seen a baby Giraffe in person before, very cute!

We had a nice picnic lunch at the Zoo, took a little break before letting the kiddo's loose in the super fun play area. It was by far the best, biggest play area that we have ever seen at a zoo. Check out the HUGE tree house, it had all kinds of slides attached to it and you could climb up the whole inside all the way to the top! Drew started to make his way up there, he was 1/2 way up that ginormous tree!! Dylan loved the slides and the climbing net, it was the perfect place to let the kids run free, it was all fenced in and the ground was a super soft material so no scraped knees!

Not only did this children's area have animals and a super neat play area but it also had a beautiful carousel AND a train ride! Of course Dylan called it Thomas & Friends Train, that was fine with us, he was so happy to get a ride. So Brad and Tony were off with the boys for a fun train ride! Dylan sure was a thirsty little fella, as soon as he spotted mommy he wanted his cup and he wanted it NOW! So that was a little distracting for the last half of the train ride....demanding little thing! Then it was onto the carousel... daddy took Dylan and Emily took Drew and Allison. They had a blast and they all sat so good, just along for the ride!

After the children's area it was time to think about nap time for the kiddo's. It was getting to be that time and we still had a fun afternoon and evening ahead so nap time was a must! But first the mommy's decided to venture to the gift shop and the daddy's sat with the kids. Well, Danielle had enough of her stroller so daddy was holding her when a photographer came over and asked Brad and Tony if he could take some pics of the kids for a paper distributed in Madison. Here are a few of the snap shots mommy got of the photographer taking his pics. We have a link to check and we can view the Madison paper online Thursday! Dylan got a new tiger and deer from the gift shop and he was more than content playing with them! Deer are Dylan's new favorite animal, so how appropriate mommy got him a new 'deer' figurine! Drew and Allison, well, they were perfect little angels sound asleep before we even left the zoo! Our kiddo's took a nap with daddy back at the hotel!

Saturday night we had a great dinner at the Great Dane Pub and Brewery. The kids were all freshened up after a nap and we got in a great dinner and some good laughs before a fun second night at the pool! Dylan was a little timid on the water slide as him and daddy had a minor collision the night before....oops! But he still LOVED the water, as always, he is quite the little fishy! The boys loved throwing the balls around and running in the water and of course Dylan loved climbing in and out of the pool and bouncing in the water with mommy! We had such a fun weekend in Madison. We hope these little miracle babies will be Friends forever! We will see the LeConte Family again soon and we can't wait! We have been thru 2 very similar, life changing experiences, we share the same joys, feelings and in the beginning tears.....now we celebrate the gifts the lord has given us, we each have a beautiful family with beautiful miracle children :)

Sunday we had another great breakfast and then it was off to the Park before heading home! We went to a super neat and clean park with a huge children's play area. They even had a 'Tot Lot' for the little ones. There was a 'rocket ship' for the kids to climb up, all kinds of slides, swings, little forts and even a little barn for the kids to play in and look out the windows. It was the perfect conclusion to a fun weekend getaway! Memories were definitely made, and past life changing experiences have developed into a fun, unique friendship that we are certain for these two Miracle little boys....will last forever!~

Dylan was a happy camper all weekend long! We love you little man and are SO happy you had a fun weekend with your sister and your friends Drew & Allison!!
