Dylan is doing great!
Dylan's surgery recovery was a bit more extensive this time. Last time he was bouncing back to himself within 2-3 days....this time it took over a week. We expected that since this surgery was more evasive, but now he is doing great. After staying home with mom for 4 days after surgery and having quiet play time we think that did the trick. The day after surgery was probably the worst. He didn't want to walk and found himself frustrated because he couldn't climb on or off the couch as he usually does, or climb onto his little train table and he often does also. Getting out of bed brought some creative thinking on his part, he would knock on the wall in the morning for the first 3 days to tell us that he was awake. Poor little guy, but he knew he couldn't get up on his own and his knocking sure got mom and dad's attention!
On Thursday, Grandpa Kinney brought us out lunch and Dylan some Dairy Queen ice cream, and doesn't ice cream always make you feel better?! It sure did Dylan. The look on his face was priceless, he was able to have a little picnic in the living room in front of the TV with a Hot Fudge sundae with Grandpa....he was set! Dylan visited Aunt Ellie's house on Friday and relaxed with her and Uncle Bill and Cousin Kim for a few hours while mommy got a few things done. That was perfect for Dylan, he relaxed laying on the couch and had some quiet play time and he even came home with a whole sack full of new toys! So despite feeling under the weather and taking it easy during his recovery, he sure had a few things that made his days a little brighter! Now he is back to himself, climbing, jumping, you name it....Dylan is back and it is great to see!
This past weekend our friends, the LeConte's, came down to visit from Wisconsin. They are our friends that we met in the NICU in IC when Dylan and their little Drew were neighbors. Dylan was SO excited to see Drew and Allison again. We thought what a perfect time of year to visit the Pumpkin Patch. It has become an annual tradition for our family so what a better way to share in the fun with some great friends.
For the second year in a row we ventured to Bloomsbury Farm. Dylan was very excited to ride on the tractor and pick out some pumpkins and play with Drew. Bloomsbury offers so many things for the kids and adults. We took advantage of the mild temperatures and had a great time. The boys and Allison took off right away and ran to wherever their little heart desired. To the swings, to the slide, to the little John Deere tractors, to the 'Little Barrel ride', to the hayrack ride, to the 'Corn bin' for some play time, to the 'Pig Races', to the big jumping area, to the petting zoo.....and finally to pick out Pumpkins, they did it all! It was a good thing we took along the boots because it was pretty muddy, but what a better way to get down and dirty while at the Pumpkin Patch! We have such a fun time with their family and we are so happy that they were able to come down and visit and venture with us to the Pumpkin Patch. We really love this time of the year and now our Fall decor is complete with 4 round pumpkins waiting to be carved! Thank you LeConte's for such a fun time!
Fall Traditions continue for our family. We are enjoying every nice day outside that comes along before it is blistery and cold. Dylan is enjoying to still be able to ride his little 4Wheeler outside, he loves to plow thru the leaves, they make for little bumps in the yard and he love to ride over the bumps! Halloween is coming up in just a few days. We can't wait to see the kids in their little costumes, every year just gets more and more fun with these little ones!
We love you Dylan. We are so happy you are feeling good, despite being a little sore this morning little man, we are very happy you are bouncing right back.~
